Change Readiness Assessment

Download this course description (pdf)

Business Issue - The rapid pace of mergers and acquisitions, evolving regulations, technology systems updates, and internal reorganizations require today’s financial services leaders to be agile. Managers need their teams to adapt easily and enthusiastically. Unfortunately, they do not always know how receptive their direct reports are to the change in question. They may not even know how they feel themselves. Managers need a clear and complete understanding of where they are as individuals and where their people are in reference to a change, and how well the team or organization views its ability to implement and sustain more change.

Omega Performance’s Solution - The Change Readiness Assessment alleviates this ambiguity by evaluating the change readiness state of an individual, team, and organization. Through a multi-dimensional, online survey, the Change Readiness Assessment links each participant’s responses to a specific change state—indifference, rejection, doubt, neutrality, experimentation, and commitment. This guarantees targeted coaching and communication at all levels to impact movement to change commitment on 10 dimensions—direction, communication, involvement, managing the project, culture, skills and knowledge, resilience, accountability, recognition, and coaching. The Change Readiness Assessment equips managers with the insight needed to make informed decisions on next steps to launch, communicate, and coach individuals, teams, and the organization through change.

What Is Included

Through the Change Readiness Assessment, participants self assess their reaction to 40 statements in a 20-minute time period using a scale of 1 (strongly agree) to 5 (strongly disagree). The answers they provide reveal their personal state of change readiness according to six states:

  • Indifference: when there is no perceived need to change.
  • Rejection: when there is a passionate refusal to accept the upcoming change.
  • Doubt: when there is skepticism about the validity of the proposed approach or change.
  • Neutrality: when there is no decision to act, one way or the other, but simply a willingness to wait and observe.
  • Experimentation: when a decision has been made to try to change and there is a willingness to "play" with different approaches and alternatives.
  • Commitment: when a decision has been made to commit to the new way of life or business and there is a willingness and ability to apply the skills and knowledge required in the new world.

The results of the individual assessments are also aggregated to provide insight at a team and an organizational level. The reporting of data is based on the states of change readiness and gives managers a snapshot of what percent of their team and the organization is in each state of readiness, plus strengths and gaps within each of the corresponding dimensions.
